Walter grew up in Indian Lake and spent most of his life here. He purchased the business from his mother in 1972 and ran Marty's (named after his father) as a tavern with live entertainment on the weekends with acts such as Mitch Frasier, Steve Fortier, Billy J Carl Band and EXIT (out of Albany). Walter served a limited food menu of pizza, sandwiches and chicken wings. He has over 40 years of bar-tending experience and mixes the best margaritas! When the restaurant slows down in the winter, you can find Walter on the ski slopes of Gore Mountain in North Creek.
Nancy hails from New Jersey and worked for American Telephone and Telegraph Long Lines and Lucent Technologies in various positions, with her last assignment writing user documentation and testing an inventory control system. She has wonderful organizational skills and is self disciplined, making her great at accomplishing her goals. When her position was out sourced to another company, she decided it was time to move on and entered the world of cooking Mexican food. She is self taught and takes great pride in her dishes. Nancy has always loved keeping her hands busy and knits in the off season. She combined her love of animals and yarn into a hobby of keeping pygora goats, spinning their fiber and knitting all kinds of socks, mittens, hats and sweaters. It is all a labor of love, especially when the temperatures are below zero and she is out in the barn feeding and watering her animals!
